tai chi chuan

Posted in Presentation

The Chinese translation of tai chi chuan (太極拳) is “taiji boxing” or “boxing of the supreme zenith”, tai chi chuan is part of the family of Internal Chinese Martial Arts or “so-called internal” or “ neijia” or “neija quan” (内家拳). Tai chi chuan should not be confused or assimilated with Muay Thai (มวยไทย), of Thai origin, with thai (แบบไทย) or "free man", and not Chinese tai, here, muay thai is an Art Martial and a Thai fighting art.

tai chi chuan and effects on pathologies

Posted in Presentation

I will try to establish links here between the practice of tai chi chuan or other well-worked relaxing methods with their effects on existing pathologies by differentiating these different pathologies into 2 main categories to simplify the reader's understanding.

With regard to physical pathologies, namely various bodily injuries: wounds, various bruises, infections, intra-corporeal lesions and others, potentially very numerous and very diverse...
With regard to known pathologies, currently behavioral and/or mental, through a classification of so-called abnormal behaviors; Here we still need to know what the term normality or "being normal" means, also taking into account our natural environments and the values and behaviors around us and present in the majority... Let us therefore quote:

  • Anxiety disorders
  • Dissociative disorders
  • Somatoform disorders
  • Eating disorders
  • Mood disorders
  • Schizophrenia
  • Personality disorders

Tai Chi Chuan, like other methods with a relaxing scope, well practiced and following well-supervised and structured methodologies, have, in my opinion, positive effects firstly on so-called "abnormal" behavior by "softening the excesses" all the way. first but also, in my opinion, then generally also on physical or "more bodily" pathologies, later, in my opinion and also in a real although more diffuse way.

qi or chi can be desribed traditionally as :

  • it's a vital force part of all living entities, in Chinese civilisations
  • qi or chi means literaly 'vapor', 'air', or 'breath
  • the terms more commonly used are vital energy', 'vital force', 'material energy', or simply 'energy'

Chi or Qi (China) are used in traditional Chinese Medicine, Chinese Martial Arts, qiqong or maintenance, development and balance of qi or chi, in Fengshui and other Chinese practises, as well... Qi or Chi as existing energy present in Universe(s) guide the whole(s) according many chinese and asian systems of believes, philosophies, cults and religions.

  • Qi is written like that :
  • "Chi or Qi" is written like that:氣或氣
  • Ki is the Japanse counterpart of chi, it has the same meaning, globally and is used the same way and is written likeキ.

What is the connection between Qi or Chi in Taoism?
Qi is the energy present in the Universe(s) and which guides everything, according to them..., as we have already said, before... The Taoist book Tao Te Ching (
道德經), and many other Taoist books provide guidelines and methodologies to follow on some behaviors and spiritual ways in order to live in harmony with this energy. However, it should be noted that Taoists do not believe in this energy as a god(s).
